Plant Name: Lavender

INCI Name: Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract

IECIC Name: LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA (LAVENDER) FLOWER EXTRACT

The English word “Lavender” was derived from the Old French word “lavandre”, ultimately from the Latin word “lavare” (to wash),
referring to the use of infusions of the plants. Lavender was introduced into England in the 1600s.
It is said that Queen Elizabeth prized a lavender conserve (jam) at her table.
Western herbal medicine uses Lavender as a relaxant, antispasmodic, circulatory stimulant, and nervous system tonic.
Compound analysis on its extract found antioxidant and antimicrobial agents including camphor, rosmarinic acid, luteolin and apigenin.
Lavender extract also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as a natural mosquito repellent.
